-たがる

〔欲する〕 want [wish, desire, hope] to do; be anxious [eager, curious, dying] to do. [⇒したがる]

●非常に会いたがっている be anxious [dying, longing] to see sb

・〔ものを〕 手に入れたがる want to get hold of…; covet

・見[聞き, 知り]たがる be curious to see [hear, know]

・国の便りを聞きたがっている want to hear from home; be dying for news from home

・他人の私事をやたら知りたがるものではない. You shouldn't get too interested in other people's private affairs.

・子供は大人の話に首を突っ込みたがるものだ. Children are always eager to cut into grownups' conversation.

・行きたがってるのなら, 行かせりゃいいじゃないか. If they want to go, why not let them?

・どんなに飲みたがっても飲ませないでください. Now matter how much he wants to drink, please don't let him.
